Presentation Weekend
by Sr Tamsin Mary
Some weekends in our house are very quiet; others much less so. Last weekend, the weekend of the Presentation was exceptionally busy:
On Friday Sr Mary Magdalene was in Stone, delivering a 'St Thomas weekend' on the topic 'Participation in Trinitarian Life'. About 20 people attended, including two enquirers who are currently staying with us.
Meanwhile on Saturday Srs Tamsin Mary and Ann Catherine attended the Mass for religious at the Cathedral in Norwich. Bishop Alan preached on how the encounter between the two couples - Mary and Joseph and Simeon and Anna - was a signal to us that we should respect people in all age-groups. He also spoke movingly about the counter-cultural value of the evangelical counsels of poverty chastity and obedience.
On Sunday Sr Tamsin attended Mass at the Church of Our Lady and St Catherine of Siena in Bow to celebrate the work of religious sisters in the parish from its foundation. Fr. Ruiz preached eloquently on the theme of religious life and its value for the Church. You can read his sermon here.
Elsewhere in London, Sr Chiara Mary attended Mass at Newman House, celebrated by Cardinal Vincent Nichols
Meanwhile at home in our convent in Cambridge the 'normal' work of study and catechesis continued. Altogether it was a weekend to see Dominican sisters living their preaching mission. Thanks be to God.
